CINCINNATI (AP) - The Reds have bolstered their bullpen for a tough stretch of the season by promoting left-handed pitcher Pedro Viola from Triple-A Louisville.
To make room for Viola on their 40-man roster, the Reds transferred infielder Danny Richar from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day list on Wednesday. Richar is recovering from surgery in July to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.Viola was 2-2 with a 5.47 ERA and eight saves in 11 opportunities with Louisville. He led the Bats with 54 relief appearances.
The Reds are scheduled to play 17 consecutive days starting Friday, their longest stretch of the season.
