--RF Jay Bruce was 1-for-12 with a single during a three-game sweep of the Diamondbacks, but he still leads the club with 10 homers. Before that series he had hit safely in 12 of 13 games, although he hit only .241 in the 13-game stretch.
--1B Joey Votto left the fourth inning of Tuesday's game in Arizona and remained out of the lineup Wednesday. He reported dizziness and wooziness, and doctors believe it was due to the flu that caused him to miss four starts last week. He is expected to return to the lineup Friday. --RHP Nick Masset has given up no runs and one hit over his last five appearances out of the bullpen (five innings) and has given up only one run and three hits in his seven appearances. He tried to make the rotation this spring but lost out to RHP Micah Owings and has made the most of his relegation to the bullpen.
MEDICAL WATCH:
1B Joey Votto (flu) did not start May 7-10, but he was back in the lineup May 11. He left the May 12 game due to dizziness and did not play May 13. He is expected to return May 15.
SS Alex Gonzalez (strained left oblique) left the May 4 game and did not play May 5-13. He is expected to start May 15.
3B Edwin Encarnacion (chip fracture in left wrist) went on the 15-day disabled list April 28. He might miss two to three weeks.
