--3B Adam Rosales hit .417 in his first four games after his call-up from Class AAA Louisville, but after Rosales played Monday night in Florida, Jerry Hairston Jr. will man third base Tuesday and Wednesday. Hairston is hitting .159.

--3B Edwin Encarnacion (chipped bone, left wrist) is on the team's five-day trip staying in shape by running and doing weight work. He'll have his hard cast removed and replaced by a soft cast when the team returns home Wednesday.

--RHP Edinson Volquez, who pitched a one-hit shutout over eight innings against the Braves in his last start, makes his sixth start of the season Tuesday against the Marlins. He is 2-0 in two starts against the Marlins with a 3.00 ERA.

--1B Joey Votto has a four-game hitting streak and has at least one hit in 19 of his 25 games. He is the only Red to play every inning of every game.

--SS Alex Gonzalez left Monday's game in the ninth inning with a strained left oblique. He left for Cincinnati for an examination Tuesday by team physician Dr. Tim Kremchek.

MEDICAL WATCH:

SS Alex Gonzalez (strained left oblique) left the game May 4 and was scheduled to be examined May 5.

3B Edwin Encarnacion (chip fracture in left wrist) went on the 15-day disabled list April 28. He might miss two to three weeks.
