--RHP Ramon Ramirez was en route to his first major-league victory in his first major-league start Saturday, leaving after seven with a three-run lead, but the bullpen blew the save and he had to be content with a no-decision on seven innings, three runs, five hits, two walks, six strikeouts against the Giants. --C/INF/OF Wilkin Castillo, acquired from the Diamondbacks in the Aug. 14 trade of LF Adam Dunn, was recalled from Louisville Class AAA Sunday and manager Dusty Baker said, "He's Eli Marrero, just like Eli Marrero -- catches and plays everywhere else, too."
--RHP Josh Fogg, a former Pirate, faces his old teammates Tuesday in the Great American Ball Park for the second time this season after losing at Pittsburgh, giving up four runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings. He is 1-2 with a 10.42 ERA for his four career starts against Pittsburgh.
--RHP Jared Burton, on the DL since the week before the All-Star break with a sore lat muscle, pitched an inning in each of two rehab appearances at Class AAA Louisville last week and will be activated Tuesday in time for the opening of a three-game home series against the Pirates.
