--RHP Edinson Volquez (10-3, 2.08) makes his last start before participating in the All-Star game Tuesday when he faces Milwaukee Saturday in Miller Park, his first career appearance against the Brewers. --RHP Mike Lincoln pitched a scoreless seventh inning Friday and was the winning pitcher, his first major-league win since he beat Philadelphia on April 24, 2004. Since then, he has had two "Tommy John" surgeries and was out of the game for three years.
--C David Ross hit two home runs during the team's seven-homer barrage in Wrigley Field Thursday. He has eight two-homer games in his career and is 12 for 33 (.364) over his last 11 games.
--C Paul Bako is four for 34, dropping his batting average from .242 to .221, but he has caught all five of the team's shutouts.
BY THE NUMBERS: 24 -- Starts made by rookie pitchers, through July 6. Eighteen were by RHP Johnny Cueto. RHP Homer Bailey (three starts, 0-3, 8.76) and RHP Daryl Thompson (three starts, 0-2, 6.91) both have been sent back to the minors.
