--INF Andy Phillips, claimed off waivers from the Reds by the Mets, was reclaimed by the Reds off waivers from the Mets.
--RHP Josh Fogg is expected to be the starter July 11 in Milwaukee when the Reds next need a fifth starter. Fogg has recovered from back spasms to make four straight starts on rehab that were more than 100 pitches. --RHP Bronson Arroyo (5-7, 6.19) makes his 19th start of the season Friday against the Nationals. The Reds have averaged five runs a game when Arroyo starts and are 8-10 in his 18 starts.
--INF Jolbert Cabrera, on the DL since dislocating the index finger on his left hand June 26, took 17 stitches in the thumb and had surgery to untangle the tendons from the bone, but says he will begin taking batting practice next week.
--RHP Edinson Volquez (10-3) leads the NL in ERA (2.24), batting average against (.210) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.7) as he bids to become the first Reds starting pitcher to make the All-Star team since Jack Armstrong in 1990.
