--1B Joey Votto, now the team's regular after winning the job from veteran Scott Hatteberg, has hit four homers and driven in 12 runs in his last 15 games. --3B Edwin Encarnacion, hitting .083 10 days into the season, leads the team in homers (seven) and RBIs (16) and has his batting average up to .287.
--LHP Jeremy Affeldt's demotion to the bullpen during spring training after a trial as a starter has been for the best. He has a 0.90 ERA in his last 10 innings (11 appearances), giving up one earned run. He has 18 strikeouts in his 12 1/3 innings this season.
--SS Jeff Keppinger, a contact hitter deluxe, has swung and missed only 10 times this season in 113 at-bats.
