--RHP Edinson Volquez, RHP Bronson Arroyo and RHP Johnny Cueto were the starters when the Reds posted three shutouts in four games, the second time in the last 25 years the Reds have done that. In 1992, LHP Greg Swindell, LHP Chris Hammond and RHP Tim Belcher were the starters when the Reds had three shutouts in a four-game span.
--RHP Nick Masset tried out for the No. 5 spot in the rotation this spring, but he lost out late to RHP Micah Owings and was placed in long relief. Masset has grasped the role, giving up only two runs and four hits in his six appearances and not giving up a run in four of the six games. BY THE NUMBERS: 1 -- Roster moves made by the team over the first 24 games. 3B Edwin Encarnacion had to be placed on the disabled list with a fractured left wrist.
