--RHP Edinson Volquez, held back a day after he pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief Sunday during an 18-inning loss Sunday to San Diego, starts Friday against the Braves. He struck out a career-high 12 batters in his last start, May 23 in San Diego.
--LF Adam Dunn is hitting .419 over his last 14 games (18-for-43) with homer homers and 17 RBIs.
--C David Ross was 1-for-12 in his first four appearances after coming off the disabled list (lower back spasms), but since then is 10-for-32 (.313) over his next 13 appearances.
--LHP Kent Mercker (back problems) was activated off the disabled list before Thursday's game against the Pirates. He had been out since May 9.
