--CF Ken Griffey Jr. and LF Adam Dunn were given Sunday off, a rare occurrence that both were out of the lineup at the same time, with manager Dusty Baker saying Griffey needed a physical day off and Dunn needed a mental day off.
--RHP Bronson Arroyo (0-3, 7.56) makes his sixth start Monday in St. Louis, still looking to advance farther in a game than 5 2/3 innings. Since starting the first half of his first season with the Reds in 2006 at 9-3, Arroyo is 14-26. --RHP Mike Lincoln, out of baseball for more than three seasons after two Tommy John elbow-ligament replacement surgeries, has four two-inning relief appearances and five of his eight appearances have been for 1 1/3 innings or more.
--C Paul Bako, who never had more than one triple in any of his first 10 major league seasons, had two in his first 20 games for the Reds this season.
--OF/INF Ryan Freel made his first start of the season in left field Sunday and had two hits, scored two and drove in two. He has eight starts in four positions -- center field, third base, second base, left field.
BY THE NUMBERS: 1 -- Number of wins by staff ace Aaron Harang, despite a 2.74 ERA for his six starts, mostly made when his team failed to score runs.
