Cincinnati Reds Notes, Quotes 2009-09-04--LHP Pedro Viola was called up from Class AAA Louisville and will be available Friday in Atlanta. Viola, 25, was 2-2 with a 5.47 ERA in 54 bullpen appearances at Louisville and will make his major league debut with his first appearance.

--2B Brandon Phillips has three straight multi-hit games. He went 3-for-4 with a home run Wednesday against the Pirates.

--After Thursday's day off, the Reds are scheduled to play on 17 consecutive days, their longest stretch of continuous play this season. It opens with a 10-game, three-city road trip, starting with three games at Atlanta.

--RHP Bronson Arroyo, Friday's scheduled starter for Cincinnati at Atlanta, had a 1.99 ERA in six August starts. All he got out of it was a 1-2 record. His win was a complete-game two-hitter in the Reds' 7-0 decision over Washington on Aug. 13.

BY THE NUMBERS: 109 -- Number of runs the Reds have allowed in the first inning, most in the majors, and they have been outscored 109-62. They've allowed first-inning runs in 53 of their 129 games.
