Right-hander Bronson Arroyo, pushed back to Sunday from a scheduled Thursday start, is back on schedule and will face the Mets on Thursday, as originally planned.

Arroyo battled carpal tunnel syndrome for most of the second half of spring training, and it was thought his wrist needed rest.

But Arroyo took a cortisone shot last week, then played long-toss Sunday and threw in the bullpen Monday under the watchful eye of pitching coach Dick Pole.

Pole reported that Arroyo threw naturally and Arroyo said he felt normal, so he was switched back to Thursday.

Right-hander Micah Owings was going to pitch Thursday, but he has been returned to his original No. 5 spot in the rotation and will pitch Sunday against the Pirates.

METS 2, REDS 1: RHP Aaron Harang only gave up one run, but he needed 114 pitches to get through five innings and left with the score tied at 1. LHP Daniel Ray Herrera, who hadn't given up a run all spring, retiring 26 of 30, gave up a run in the sixth. The Reds had only three hits off LHP Johan Santana and three New York relievers.
