The Reds will add seven players from their top minor league squad, only three of whom have appeared for Cincinnati earlier in the season.

Left-handed reliever Danny Herrera and infielders Paul Janish and Adam Rosales were recalled, and they will rejoin the Reds.

Infielder Danny Richar, acquired in the July 31 trade that sent Ken Griffey Jr. to the White Sox, also was called up. He batted .254 in 29 regular-season games for Louisville after batting .262 in 62 games for the White Sox's Class AAA Charlotte affiliate.

The contracts of three other players were purchased from Louisville.

Right-handed reliever Jon Adkins, who has appeared in parts of five big-league seasons with the White Sox, Padres and Mets, will join the Reds after a strong year as Louisville's closer. He went 1-4 with 30 saves and a 3.48 ERA.

Left-hander Adam Pettyjohn, 31, and right-handed reliever Josh Roenicke, 26, will be making their first appearances in the major leagues. Pettyjohn posted a 15-6 record with a 4.59 ERA in 28 starts for Louisville, although he likely will work out of the bullpen for Cincinnati. Roenicke went a combined 6-2 with 13 saves and a 2.80 ERA with Class AA Chattanooga and Louisville this year.

REDS 5, BREWERS 4: SS Jeff Keppinger's two-run, bases-loaded double in the ninth inning capped the Reds' three-run, game-winning rally. RHP Edinson Volquez was unable to claim his 17th victory for the third consecutive time, leaving in a 4-1 hole. 1B Joey Votto homered in the eighth, the 19th HR of his rookie season.
